Show total pages count in SSRS report top page navigation as ‘1 of n’

Posted on: July 26, 2012

In SSRS 2008 R2, the top page navigation always shows ‘1 of 2′ even if the total number of pages is more than 2. This is not a bug, rather a feature in SSRS 2008 R2. To overcome this and show the total number of pages as ‘1 of n’, there are two ways

  1. Users can Click “Last Page” button(From ‘report manager’/’report viewer’ top toolbar) after report is generated. After clicking this button, total number of pages will appear instead of question mark and it will always remain there if we go to any page of that report till we close the report.
  2. If we put a textbox in header or footer containing “=Globals!TotalPages” (This property is allowed only in header or footer.), the report will display the total number of pages instead of question mark. We can hide that textbox.
